The most immediately noticeable difference between Porcelain and Ceramic Tile is the price. Porcelain is more expensive, but does that mean it’s better? The answer is, that it depends on the intended application.

Porcelain and Ceramic tiles are made differently, they are composed of different material so they act differently.

Porcelain is more impervious to water and because it is a more dense material, it requires more skill to properly cut and install.

Ceramic should not be installed outdoors as exposure to elements, like water could affect it’s longevity. But, it’s easier to cut and install so that makes it the more affordable of the two.

There are actually quite a few tile collections that are available in Porcelain or Ceramic, so you can get the same “look,” either way. Work with a flooring expert to determine which material is right for the space you’re going to tile.
